Description of Ranks of the Pakistan Police Force
Among Pakistan’s police force, junior police officers are divided into two categories: junior and senior. According to their district and salary package, police ranks have different duties. Therefore, all ranks will be discussed in detail along with their specifications.
01. Junior Police Force Ranks
There are three basic divisions in Pakistan: districts, cities, and provinces. Districts are then further subdivided into subdivisions, and subdivisions into police stations. After this, every police station is divided into different beats. Assisting sub-inspectors and constables are assigned patrol duties and surveillance.
02. Constable Rank
It is the junior staff of police forces who are called constables. It is necessary for an individual to be between the ages of 18 and 26 in order to be considered for this position. Based on a province’s pay scale, this rank usually has a basic pay scale of BPS5 or BPS7.
03. Head Constable Ranks
In terms of rank, we need to know that a Head Constable is above a constable. Head constables in Pakistan Police are generally paid between the basic pay scale or grade of 7 to the BS 9 in terms of their pay scale.
04. Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police
Assisting Sub-Inspectors rank above both a constable and a head constable. BPS 9 through BPS 11 are the civil service grades for this rank in the police, but it also depends on the district as to how these grades are assigned.
05. Sub-inspector of Police
A sub-inspector can oversee either a small rural or suburban police station or serve as the staff of a larger city or town police station. It is common for Pakistani police officers of this rank to be paid according to the BPS 14 pay scale.
06. Inspector of Police
The Police Inspector is available to serve as Superintendent of Police and head police stations. A civil service grade of BPS 16 is assigned to this rank based on the district.
07. Senior Police Force Ranks
Pakistan’s provinces are divided into regions, which are subdivided further into districts. District Police Officers are in charge of policing each district in Pakistan. Local police officers report to their regional counterparts, who report to the Provincial Police Officer. Our discussion will focus on senior ranks in the police force.

Police Assistant & Deputy Superintendent (ASP/DSP) Salary
Previously, we mentioned that each district in Pakistan has multiple sub-divisions. District sub-divisions are overseen by assistants or deputy superintendents. A contracting ASP and DSP is a gazetted position because BPS 17 is the civil service grade for this position.
Pakistan requires a Bachelor’s degree from an approved university for this rank.
As a minimum requirement, candidates must be between 21 and 28. Police officers are paid Rs. 30370 – 76370 as their basic salary per month.
