The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched a housing program, Apni Zameen Apna Ghar, that will provide free housing plots to the poor and homeless across Punjab. The first phase of the program will offer 1,892 free plots to residents of 23 housing schemes across 19 districts.
Under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program, low-income residents of Punjab are eligible to receive free plots of land measuring three marlas (675 square feet) as well as interest-free construction loans.

Apni Zameen Apna Ghar Construction Loan Process
A construction loan of Rs1.5 million can be availed by applicants with plots allotted under the program. A few steps are involved:
- Obtaining ownership confirmation for the plot.
- Submitting required documents online at acag.punjab.gov.pk or in person at the DC office.
- The relevant department verifies the documents.
- The loan is disbursed in monthly installments with a grace period of three months.
- A monthly repayment of Rs14,000 over seven years is required.
